Fruitful discussion with Frances Haugen on the Library Gang Podcast (50 mins). She is an impressive spokes person for Google Book Search. She spoke well about Google Mobile and Catalogues and metadata (deep waters here). Improving Searchability and Findability

We have enhanced the searchability and findability of the Exact Editions service with a site release which is being rolled out today. The internal name for this enhancement is ‘universal preview’ and it brings magazines more into line with the way books are handled on the Exact Editions platform.

I recently saw a twitter from Tim O’Reilly to the effect that ‘books as apps’ dont scale. That struck me as quite sage — Tim does a good line in sage twitters. But his proposal for creating a ‘channel’ on Stanza doesnt sound quite right (a channel for what? Usage Statistics from Exact Editions Institutional Accounts

Librarians who subscribe to our institutional content licenses now have some convenient statistical tools which summarize monthly page use and search terms.

The statistical reports are only available to Librarians who have a personal management account with Exact Editions (typically the librarian who places the original order). When such registered librarians log in to Exact Editions with their username and password they will find a new “librarian: stats” link on the toolbar.
