We’ve had the pleasure of adding several new members since the last update. So before we start, I’d like to take a brief moment to thank the seven librarians for taking the time to participate and for their very comprehensive responses. I’m a big fan of Japanese literature and wholly recommend reading The Nakano Thrift Shop by Hiromi Kawakami. It’s a quiet book that is wonderful in its minimalism and descriptions of daily life. Like reality, the characters are subtle and keep parts of themselves hidden. Kawakami is a master of capturing the ordinary.
