It’s coming to the end of 2019 and Exact Editions has had a very busy year, with the addition of over 30 new titles, offering full digital archives of existing titles than ever before, and several new publisher services and features.

In partnership with Future, in early 2019, Exact Editions added five music titles to its platform: Computer Music, Future Music, Guitar Techniques, Total Guitar and Guitarist, with their modern archives available to purchase for individuals and also on offer as a Future Music Collection for institutions. Since then, Music Week has also come on board with a year’s worth of back issues.
With our continued work with Mark Allen, Exact Editions have also added six new titles this year: Opera Now, International Piano, Choir & Organ, Classical Music, Music Teacher and Teaching Drama, which brings the total of Mark Allen titles available on the platform to 27. Opera Now and Choir & Organ now have their full archives digitised and back issues for subscribers are accessible going back to 1989 and 1994.

Exact Editions has also had several other music magazines come on board over the course of the year. The Strad, an influential monthly string magazine, has been archived since January 2014 and is available in the individual and institutional shop. JazzTimes, with back issues going back to 2011, provides comprehensive and in-depth coverage of the jazz scene.
With now over 24 music magazine working with Exact Editions, there are now two new music collections on offer to institutions. The Classical Music Collection, an eight-magazine bundle, provides a broad and in-depth range of content from some of the most highly respected classical music magazines in the world. The Contemporary Music Collection, a seven magazine collection, brings subscribers the latest development in contemporary music, exploring new technology, the underground scene, and experimental projects.
Following several theatre magazines that have also come on board with Exact Editions over the course of the year, there is also now a new Performing Arts Collection on offer to institutions. This six-magazine collection includes titles such as Dancing Times, Opera Now and The Stage and subscribers would have access to a range of back issues offering expertise and commentary on the latest in each magazine’s respective fields.

Earlier this year, we introduced a new feature to the Exact Editions platform called The Title Showcase — http://www.exacteditions.com/titleshowcase, a rotating carousel of free content updated weekly. Each week we had selected one archived issue from a selection of magazines for free viewing, allowing readers to preview a variety of magazines and archives as well as gave publishers a new way of showcase their content.

The newly developed ‘Reading Room’ allows publishers to offer, one day or one week long links to give free access to their latest issue or entire archive, a useful service that gives publishers easier and quicker ways to promote and share their content online.
Exact Editions also now offers a white-labelling solution whereby a publishers content can now be seamlessly delivered by Exact Editions to their own website. An example of publishers now using this service is Warners’ Painter’s Online, that offers subscribers access to The Artist and Leisure Painter.
We all at Exact Editions wish our subscribers and publishing partners a very merry Christmas and new year and look forward to 2020!
