It’s coming to the end of 2021, still not quite back to the usual normal times pre March 2020, but this year have brought with it many more positives than the last. Exact Editions has remained busy and continuing as business as usual throughout the year with the addition of over 25 new magazine titles on its platform, lengthier digital archives, new and expanding book collections, as well as new publisher services and features.


New Magazines

Many exciting titles about a variety of subjects joined the Exact Edition digital platform this year. Four titles from Silverback Publishing joined earlier this year, and institutions and individuals can now subscribe to Blocks MagazineShindig!Retro Ford Magazine and UK Rock & Roll that includes a fully searchable archive of back issues for each title.

Another music magazine that joined is UNCUT, the home of great, timeless rock music, from Bob Dylan to Arcade Fire aspiring to be the monthly magazine of choice for knowledgeable music fans that typically grew up with the classic rock of the sixties and seventies. 

Two titles from Madavor Media also joined Exact Editions, The Writer, one of America’s oldest magazines focussing on the craft of writing and helping up-and-coming writers to hone their craft to become the next generation of great writers and BirdWatching, North America’s premier magazine about wild birds and birding.

Revista Banipal joins Banipal on the Exact Editions platform, giving subscribers the opportunity to read and engage with a wealth of contemporary poetry and prose from the Arab world in Spanish translation from its very first issue published. 

Readers exploring the Archaeology Worldwide archive also can also access back issues going back to its very first one published from the new archaeology title suitable for anyone interested in the dynamic discipline of world archaeology and students studying the subject alike. Over 100 back issues are available to explore in the Orientations digital archive, a bimonthly print magazine published in Hong Kong and distributed worldwide since 1969.

Subscribers can access recent back issues going back to 2019 as well as new issues published six times a year with The Progressive, a bimonthly political magazine that aims to amplify voices of dissent and those under-represented in the mainstream.

On the business side of things, Global Custodian is a leading magazine covering the international securities services business, published five times a year by Tungsten Publishing with over 40 back issues to browse as well as all future issues published.


Developed Digital Archives 

Exact Editions is offers full, extensive and fully searchable archives for many titles on its digital platform, of high-quality back issues with invaluable information useful for students, librarians and institutions. Some new full archives that have been digitised and made available to subscribers this year include The Baffler, with its archive now archive spanning over 30 years and includes over 50 issues that allows for readers to explore more of the magazine’s critiques and analysis of US politics and popular culture at the time of each issue’s publication.

Individual and institutional subscribers to Magma Poetry can also now access the full archive of back issues going back to its very first issue published in March 1994. The full digital archive spans over 25 years and includes 80 issues to browse.

The Railway Modeller now stretches back to its very first issue published in 1949, the archive spans over 70 years and encompasses more than 800 fully-searchable issues for model railway enthusiasts to browse. Published monthly by Peco Publiations, Railway Modeller is a guide to creating railscapes of every era of train, from steam to electric, and caters for modellers of all abilities.

One of our latest new titles to join the platform is Embroidery Magazine, a bimonthly membership publication exclusively devoted to all aspects of embroidery and stitched textiles in art, design, craft and textile culture. Dating back to 1932, the new archive also includes the full archive of Embroideress Magazine and includes over 450 back issues available to browse.


Book Collections

A newly available book collection on the Exact Editions digital platform is the What on Earth Books Collection. The digital collection available through the Exact Editions shop includes books produced in association with the Natural History Museum and the Smithsonian Institution and multi award-winning books, such as Absolutely Everything by Christopher Lloyd.

The Carcanet Collection continues to grow with new titles added each year providing over 250 titles from the Carcanet list available for subcribers to browse. Carcanet publishes the most comprehensive and diverse list of modern and classic poetry in English and in translation, as well as a range of inventive fiction, Lives and Letters and literary criticism. 

Some of the award-winning books available to read in the collection include Eat or We Both Starve by Victoria Kennefick, shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and the T.S. Eliot Prize 2021, The Threadbare Coat: Selected Poems by Thomas A. Clark shortlisted for the Scottish Poetry Book of the Year 2021 and Telegraph Book of the Year 2020 and Forty Names by Parwana Fayyaz, A New Statesman Book of the Year 2021.


APA Conference

Earlier in the year, Exact Editions provided access a selection of digital books for the APA Eastern Conference and then the other two divisions later in the year. Exact Editions supplied to each digital meeting an open digital display of 39 philosophy titles from 7 book publishers by way of a time-limited Reading Room link. 


COP26

For the Glasgow Meeting for COP26 this year, Exact Editions provided access over 150 digital books via the COP26 Virtual Book Showcase. 39 German, French and English-language publishers had each provided four books in support of the UN 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).

This unprecedented and innovative initiative was streamed through the Exact Editions platform. The system’s advanced search function allows readers to search for and pinpoint specific key terms across individual books, publisher sub-collections and the complete showcase.
